General Description

The Lids Director of Human Resources (HR) provides senior-level leadership and guidance to the organization’s HR operations with a strong focus in Employee Relations and Legal Compliance. The Director is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices. In addition, this position will be responsible for identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals. This dynamic leader will champion the Lids culture and cultivate a one-team approach across all of Lids retail, distribution center and corporate office.  

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will oversee and be accountable for all aspects of Human Resources for approximately 9 Lids retail & corporate office employees. The HR department is directly responsible for Employee Relations, Compliance, Talent Management, HRIS, Payroll, and Benefits. 

Additional Principle Duties and Responsibilities

•    Collaborate with all levels of leadership to define the organization’s long-term mission and goals; identify ways to support this mission through talent management.
•    Ensure compliance with employment, safety, regulations, and requirements within the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
•    Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management within the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. 
•    Partner with legal counsel to mitigate risk and act as the subject matter expert for Lids employment practices and procedures.
•    Identify key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource and talent management functions; assess the organization’s success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
•    Research, develop, and implement competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs.
•    Provide guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assist with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
•    Draft and implement the budget for the human resource department.
•    Proactively communicate with all levels of the organization to promote best in class employee service and experience. 
•    Assist with ongoing HR Technology improvements and implementations. 
•    Participate in professional development and networking conferences and events.
•    Perform other duties as assigned. 
 

Job Required Knowledge & Skills

•    Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
•    Proven ability to lead, motivate and drive accountability with direct reports.  
•    Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems.
•    Prior experience with HR System Implementations.
•    Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills.
•    Excellent conflict resolution skills.
•    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
•    Education and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
•    At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
•    SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification required.
•    HR experience within a high-volume retail company required.
•    Legal experience preferred.
