General Description

The Director of Marketing is responsible for the development and management of brand marketing strategies, setting and achieving department goals, and delegating tasks and projects to a newly developed team of 3. This role reports to the head of Business Development. The ideal candidate has an extensive marketing background with experience leading multifunction teams, an ability to empower those around them for success and a keen interest in innovative approaches

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, management, guidance and motivation for a new team.
  • Develop, communicate and execute an impactful and multifaceted marketing strategy.
  • Design authentic and meaningful overarching campaigns and strategies that deepen connection with existing collegiate communities and expand brand awareness to new growth audiences.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and yearly budgets for resource allocation.  
  • Optimize resources for greatest return and provide prioritization feedback to marketing team members for regular evaluation and adjustment.
  • Conducting market research, observing market conditions and monitoring industry trends for new strategy evaluation.  
  • Develop and direct strategies for high profile events, major product releases, hot markets and evergreen initiatives.
  • Collaborate with fellow executives across functions to effectively communicate marketing department initiatives, priorities and results.

Additional Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Job Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor level Degree in a related field, MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Familiarity with the US sports apparel, footwear, headwear or related sector
  • Collaborative by nature with an ability to partner with various levels of stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen with results orientation
  • Skilled manager and motivator with a proven ability to select and maintain talent via a healthy internal culture
  • Action-oriented with an ability to navigate from vision to strategy to execution via delegation
  • Intellectually curious with knowledge of current trends and a desire to drive innovation   
  • Experience adapting to and navigating organizational change while maintain core business focus
  • Strong presentation skills, with an ability to communicate with diverse levels of stakeholders  
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work with others as part of cross-functional teams, build consensus, and achieve results across a wide variety of distinct groups
