General Description

Fanatics Lids College (FLC) is a general merchandise company that provides all emblematic apparel, hard goods, and backpacks to Barnes and Noble Education’s college bookstores. FLC strives for excellence by bringing the highest quality of products, range of assortment and at the best prices possible for each of our partners. The position will be to leverage internal and external partnerships to build product and brand strategies within our stores and amplify messages on campus and online. This person will be responsible for pitching new partnership opportunities, creating and project managing events in store/on campus, building 360 marketing messages around product merchandising strategies and brand strategies and creating trend presentations to guide our assortments and product offerings.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partners with Buying to create trend decks 2x/year to incentivize existing vendors to create trend right product that speaks to the collegiate bookstore space. Trends will include: graphic design, silhouette opportunities, and cross merchandising “moments”
  • Partners with Marketing (Fanatics) & Visual (BNED) merchandising to amplify brand strategies and merchandising strategies in store and online. Create calendarized merchandising schedule that works in all doors or select doors; as well as “flex” merchandising moments based on assortment mix
  • Partners with vendors to research and deliver vendor provided fixtures, props, signage and collateral to better amplify brand presence in our stores. Partner with BNED on all rolls outs and coordinate delivery/usage/location
  • Partner with vendors, marketing (Fanatics), Visual merchandising (BNED) and field team to bring traffic/volume driving events to life in our stores that amplify brands or merchandising strategies within our stores and on our campuses. Leverage licensing agencies (CLC/Exemplar/Fermata) for co-op spend, marketing collateral (signage/social & email templates/visual merchandising schematics/etc) and partnership with client.
  • Attend all monthly/bi-weekly licensing meetings and all adhoc LD meetings, including weekly ND meeting
  • Pitch and approach non-licensed brand partners for exciting/exclusive opportunities that speak to white space in the collegiate market or amplify marketing strategies to best speak to our customers. Create merchandising strategies, deliver distribution recommendations, land 360 marketing strategies (on campus, in store, online, social, etc) across all partnerships (licensing agency, BNED, client, Vendor partner, Fanatics, in store) to launch product and bring partnership to life.
  • Recap and hindsight brand launches, events and in store brand/merchandising events
  • Deliver marketing and visual merchandising behind client requested product sold in stores (white out games, “the shirt”, Ring Day, etc)
