General Position Summary

Lids is looking for a Head of Public Relations to build out our PR department under our new branding and collaborations silo. This individual will manage and oversee all Public Relations for Lids, as well as the relationships between outside PR firms.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

In this role you will develop public relations strategies, build, and maintain relationships with relevant journalists and key external role-players, managing media relations for the executive team
Lead influencer marketing/talent engagement to amplify key milestones over the course of the year
Work closely with VP of Marketing, Head of Branding and Collaborations, President of Lids, and other leaders across the team to set annual brand strategy and quarterly measures of success.
Participate in the development and execution of communications and marketing plans to support annual and long-term strategic goals and initiatives
Manage media relations activities to increase earned media impressions
Develop and maintain strong relationship with members of the local media (reporters, producers, editors) to secure media placements
Identify opportunities to publicize initiatives, programs and events by developing and proactively pitching stories
Write and disseminate articles, press releases, media alerts and other materials

Additional Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Job Required Knowledge & Skills

3-5 years public relations experience, preferably with a background in the sports, apparel, and merchandise industry.
Proven track record creating successful and game changing PR campaigns from concept to completion
Customer focused with client-centric mindset
Ability to thrive, be nimble and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong media relations, issues management, and crisis communications skills, as well as a knowledge base in digital communications, website, and social media
Excellent written and verbal skills, and demonstrated success drafting and placing statements, press releases, and op-eds
Ability to act quickly and effectively under pressure, and experience making prudent decisions and taking appropriate action in uncharted situations
Ability to work well with competing priorities and manage projects involving multiple people from across the department and organization
Attention to detail and accuracy
