Manager, Business Intelligence

General Summary: The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for the technical implementation of current and future data warehouse and business intelligence solutions. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of business intelligence tools, the differences in capabilities of various tools, and a desire to understand our data to build the data models and visualizations that will help the business achieve their goals.  The manager role will lead and coordinate the work and projects of other associates, contractors, and strategic partner resources that are part of their team.  Strong understanding database methodology, data analysis, advanced SQL queries, ETL and business intelligence application required.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluating, prioritizing and assigning BI Development work requests and Work Order tickets.
  2. Reviewing database code written by the developers prior to implementation
  3. Working with the Business Solutions team to efficiently schedule database development resources.
  4. Leading and developing the BI Developer team and their needs
  5. Consulting with users to identify current operating procedures and clarifying business objectives.
  6. Continual enhancement of the technical knowledge of Lids IT systems and tools.
  7. Participate in project meetings, inter-departmental meetings & recruiting interviews
  8. Working knowledge of a variety of data strategies and tools.
  9. Other duties as assigned.


Job Required Knowledge, Skills and Education

  1. Bachelor degree required. Preferred degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  2. 5 years relevant experience.
  3. Working knowledge of cloud based BI solutions. Azure Synapse Analytics is a plus.
  4. Demonstrates a proven track record of managing team workflow, as well as designing, building, and launching complex solutions and understanding the effort it takes to accomplish these activities.
  5. General knowledge of the distribution industry and its functions including the following areas:  Finance, Sales Order Entry, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, Retail Sales, and Merchandising.
  6. Possesses a solid understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and maintains general knowledge of SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS (Tabular Model)
  7. Strong interpersonal skills and is willing to teach, guide and mentor BI Developer team members and is willing to learn from other IT associates.
  8. Broad knowledge of project management methodologies and requirements.
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence or persuade others in positive or negative circumstances.
  10. Ability to manage to deadlines and SLAs, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  11. Strong commitment to customer service.
  12. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  13. Willingness and ability to accept after-hours support calls and the dedication to resolve after-hours calls to resolution, as necessary to support the business.
  14. An attention to detail and ability to problem solve on the fly
  15. Able to work in a team environment
