Position Summary
The Sr. Sales Tax Analyst is responsible for timely filing sales tax returns and communicating with various jurisdictions to make sure our accounts are complying. Additional responsibilities will include being proactive in identifying potential tax issues, assist on state and local tax examination matters, and be involved, as requested, in special projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assisting with the preparation and timely filing of sales and use tax returns and the supporting schedules within the US

Preparing additional timely sales tax returns in Puerto Rico, Canada, United Kingdom, and other international locations.

Processing tax payments to appropriate agencies

Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations within the GL

Assisting with other sales and use tax responsibilities which may include internal and external audits, refund claims, and strategic planning.

Review monthly sales taxes paid vs liabilities incurred

Manage continuous improvement based on monthly analysis of sales and use tax processes

Monitors and confirms changes to sales tax rates and communicates with the appropriate people of such changes within the company

Analyze exemption certificates, research, and determine if they are valid

Keep current on relevant tax legislation

Other functions and projects as assigned
Job Required Knowledge and Skills
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
-
3-5+ years of combined tax and accounting experience in a private, public, or government environment

CPA is a plus but not required

Ability to research state tax issues and provide recommendation

Excellent communication skills

Experience in Dynamics 365 and/or tax return software is a plus

Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Work Envoirnment
- Onsite office work environment.
- Standard business hours from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., flexibility may be provided upon request.
Physical Demands and Travel Requirements
- Ability to constantly sit at a desk in a sedentary work environment
- Ability to frequently communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to view electronic/written materials and adjust focus when needed (i.e. computers screens, documents, etc.)
- Ability to frequently use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally stand and walk throughout the office.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally present information to small and large groups, including team members and leadership.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
