General Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is a key contributor to the Finance team, responsible for accurately recording and maintaining financial transactions that reflect the organization’s business activity. This highly visible role offers the opportunity to engage in a broad range of accounting responsibilities while collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting external reporting needs. It is well-suited for someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. As Lids continues to expand globally and mature its financial infrastructure, this role offers significant opportunities for growth and development.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Process and record monthly journal entries over various transaction cycles, such as accruals, prepaids and debt in accordance with company policy and applicable accounting standards.
- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal controls.
- Oversee accounting for payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing and entries in close collaboration with the Human Resources team.
- Provide data and analysis as needed to external auditors and regulatory bodies to support audit and compliance efforts.
- Assist with the development and implementation of internal controls for SOX compliance.
- Additional Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to improve efficiencies within the accounting and finance functions.
- Support the development of documentation and controls as the company moves towards SOX compliance.
Job Required Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Solid understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis functions
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Job Required Knowledge & Skills
- CPA license or CPA eligibility
- Experience with financial reporting systems (preferably Microsoft D365)
