General Description

Responsible for the effective translation or adaptation for all store level materials, ensuring the delivery a meaningful and coherent message to LSG’s French-speaking public. To assist in translation of web site content, marketing content, daily store communication, company policies and procedures. Workload will be directed by, but not limited to, the department managers of the operations and marketing teams in Canada. This position requires a highly collaborative nature with a great attention to detail.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Translate, edit and proofread a variety of documents from English into French; such documents could include:
  • Human Resources materials - employee training programs and memos
  • Internal communication
  • Marketing materials - flyers, store signage, email, social, vendor, etc.
  • Merchandising materials - private brands packaging, etc.
  • General materials - communications to stores, shelf tags etc.
  • Weekly store communication     
  1. Ensure that translations are complete and accurate and that there are no additions/omissions to the original text, the original meaning or the original feeling and intent.
  2. Assist with translation projects and be responsible for tracking all components/modules to successful completion.
  3. Adapt translations as required according to subject matter and target group.
  4. Clarify with the originators of documents the original meaning, feeling and intent of text to be translated.
  5. Partner internally with all departments to distribute store level communications at all levels of the company.
  6. Act as Customer Care representative by partnering with internal departments and field leaders to resolve all customer inquiries and concerns.
  7. Manage, maintain, and organize all customer care tools and internal tracking databases.
  8. Ensure timely distribution of company materials and programs both internally and externally.
  9. Other duties as assigned

Job Required Knowledge & Skills

  1. Degree in linguistics with a focus on French, translation or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; certification from a professional association (an asset)
  2. Experience where 70% of work was in French Translation suitable for Quebec consumer; experience in the translation of retail marketing content is an asset.
  3. Bilingual in English and French Canadian; working knowledge of print and electronic reference tools used in the profession, including the Trados translation memory software

Physical/ Travel Requirements:

  1. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception
     
  2. This position requires less than 20% travel, including overnight travel to Canada and Internationally.
